Rock and Roll

Missing image

My heart beats fast
but my rhythyms are measured
and slow
repeating in low, bass tones
rock steady
they
seek the overlay
of a lead guitar, soaring
as fevered fingers flit
feeling your frets
the strumming and stroking
of steel cords stretched
to breaking point

such music we make
we two
and the applause rises
to a crescendo
in our empty auditorium.

First off, W, I genuinely thrill at that most excellent slant rhyme of "crescendo" with "empty aud..." Only the skilfull can do that, and I admire it here.

But the whole rock-n-roll sexiness of the poem is a treat, too, and points out, in a very personal event, how much rock music is mostly about raw, "bass" (base)and "stroking" sex, all the way to those "steel cords" on the guitar at their "breaking point", their climax. "such music" for sure to an appreciative "audience" of only two, but the two that really count, after all is said and erotically done.

Nice one, full of hot notes all over the place. For me, as is your usual style, it's a good poem that says one thing while deftly insinuating another. Kudos!

    Later...

    You've written some

wonderful love-poems lately, celebrating things every-day and full of warmth. This is one, focusing on the erotic side of connection, and just as lovely. Comforting and fulfilling reads, simple and human. Very, very nice, WH. BEst RA
