His Past passes his Soon-To-Be

His past looked back over her shoulder to remember the hurt that was in his eyes

smiling at the people she passed as they wondered what made him cry

There was no excuse for the lies she told him, or the anger she faked for effect

But she dared him to tell her how he felt and walked away without regret

with each rolling tear, he filled his heart with fear and it'd be a climb just to mountain past today

But with one blink of his eye, his future came into focus as his past strutted away

His past and soon-to-be passed each other never realizing the moment in time

His future brushed her hair back and briefly shared contact with fate out of the corner of their eye

She'd just stormed out on the rest of her life and her chest was carrying a heart thoroughly crushed

But it was soon to be repaired by the man who would be the reason for her sudden head rush

The roses in his hand came back to life as purpose raised them in direct path of her watered cheeks

Like two lost souls wrapped up in holes, seemingly impossible how he'd ever find the nerve to speak

A pearl of hope once washed away returned now like a wave revealing a prize of the ocean

They'd soon be able to share the one thing that their past loves had spitefully broken

It'd start with the honest courage of a man with everything to lose. Her smile melting apart his strange lips to say...

"I'm sorry for yesterday's pain, and it may be worse today, but from now on no day will ever be the same"

what do you think?
