Damned

Ascend to heaven,
shredded wings,
ragged, taught and deviant.
Jagged flesh, scarred and human,
searching for a place to lie.
Dear God in heaven, make a road...
a place to wander without fear,
unmarked by doves that fly at night
and eat the seed of everyman.
Make me labour, curse my bones,
see me tethered to a tree,
and all for wanting life to live..
and loving men as being free.
Take my wings away and burn them,
cinders, fire of opal blue..
leave me dead as well you're able..
never bid me come to thee
