Stand by Your Brain
Sometimes it’s hard to be an intellectual
Giving your attention to more than one book
You’ll read good books
And read some bad books
And some you won’t understand
But if you love learning
You’ll forgive them
Even though Sartre you don't understand
And if you don’t want to be a dumb-ass
And prove you have some class
That philosophy course you’ll pass.
Stand by your brain
Give it lots of books to read
Because more IQ points you need
On quizzes and puzzles let it feed
To make it think with more speed.
Stand by your brain
And show the world you can add two and two
And read Being and Nothingness as fast as you can
Stand by your brain.
Author notes
One day I was looking after a very sweet little old lady who kept playing this country CD with Tammy Wynette's Stand by Your Man song on it over and over again. Now I got that damn song burned permenantly into my subconscious. Maybe a good parody of it will erase it somehow.
How is the rhyming scheme on this poem? What can I improve?

This is your second poem for me! And again, it seems you had a lot of fun writing this one too! I commend that!!
That said, I didn't really get this one.
Is "Stand by your brain" the song you are parodying? A bit confused. :-s
And being and Nothingness? That sounds like a yawny book!
