I suggested a walk in the park though I knew it would rain that evening. The air was saturated; the Cumulonimbus Clouds reached high into the atmosphere and were tinged with the familiar deep blue of imminent precipitation. The northwestern horizon grew darker as the sky amassed a downpour.
The breeze suddenly blew cool against my skin and the rain started to fall like the beginning notes of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, heavy and slow. The tempo of this earthly shower quickly increased and water flowed as cold rivers down my bare arms. We received shelter in an open-air pavilion. Like words from a poet’s lips, the sky opened and poured out its abundance upon the thirsty grasses.
Moisture embraced my body; clean air blissfully entered and exited my nose. With divine timing the rain sounded like a percussion section; the rhythm led the chorus of our exchanged words. As the symphony of a summer rainstorm quieted to a lullaby an arc of gathered clouds formed like a heavenly gate to the setting sun.
Luminosity pooled in the shrouded depths of your dark eyes; therein lays an infinite stock of diamonds and gold. You extended your hand to my head, placed your thumb on my temple, and fingers on my damp hair; words ceased. The light of another day faded quickly, as crickets and frogs sang their cradlesong – good night sweetheart, good night.
