My Dad told me to stay away
from the path
Hell hath no fury
like a girl in red
but she'll lure you
with her basketfull
of goodies
that's what my oul' fella said
Of course, I had to look
How I ended up in bed
with her granny
is anybody's guess
there was more than chicken soup
in that basket
Jesus!
She had me wearing a headscarf -
and a dress!
No wonder that cop freaked
when he stumbled in
on the whole sordid mess
'Step away from the basket!'
Is what I thought he said
then I kinda lost my head
the radio was playing Chris de Burgh
Goddam those ladies in red!

A twisted version of Little Red Riding Hood?
I say a twisted version? Maybe just a modern day version? To me the poem is saying that if you're not careful it's very easy to get lured in by temptation leading to depravity. So true. -
hey WH
I liked the poem. I liked the whole idea you used with the fairy tales and the fantasy aspects of it. And I think the humor, for me at least, was a necessity in this one, I dont think it would have worked nearly as well if you didn't have some kind of parody aspect on it. I thought that you did a good job there and in recognizing it would help this poem become more alive and entertaining. Made it flow better in my mind and kept me going on with the read...and the need to know how "the whole sordid mess" would clean up. My favorite part had to have been the middle, the stanza with the opening of ending up in grannies bed. Thanks for different take on the fantasy world...little red riding hood on acid meets cops and grannie porn. Interesting combination LoL Thanks for sharing and look forward to see some more little fantasies like this one here. Hope to hear from ya soon.
