Mascara Lines

The makeup runs
Down those beautiful cheeks
After you draw your guns
Refusing to speak
You make me weak
Spinning room
Can’t smell your perfume
I’ve been bad for
A while now
It’s not my choice
But you choose to ignore
My voice

Pleading and aching
Instead of
Beating and making

So take your tears and
Leave me now
So take your fears and
Leave me now

I wanted
I tried
I failed

At keeping you at least
My happy beauty
I am the beast
I neglected my duty

So this decision
Does make an incision
With incredible precision
Into my heart
Like a pointed dart
It’s a puncture wound
And I suppose I’ve marooned
You so I apologize
Wipe the tears from your eyes
I’m sorry

Sorry, you cannot respond to an archived poem
