Well, you see, she’s like a puppet;
Without someone sat beside her,
Pulling her strings, she has nothing
Much to say for herself.
Of course she can carry off the
Clichéd pleasantries, find out how
You’ve been, where you’ve been,
Even “how’s the girlfriend?”
But nothing much more than that.
No interests external of what
Is fashionable, what they’re
All talking about. No original
Thoughts come from her.
Oh no, she just sits, demurely,
Quietly observing with nothing
Sinking in. She just smiles. Prettily.
And then along he comes;
He does the talking, pulls
Her strings so she needn't worry.

the girl also reminds me of china doll, just something to look at. But china dolls are breakable so you can't really pull their strings! i love the extended metaphor!

Thanks for the comment- i did have a china doll in mind at times, but also wanted the puppet image which- as you pointed out- wouldn't have worked. this is actually about an ex-girlfriend of mine- very very pretty but not much else lol
cheers

I've known a few like that.
Needs a Puppeteer indeed. I can't help but think Puppetmaster. Though I'm not saying change your title. The story is good but I can't seem to get the rhythm of it to flow right. It feels forced. It could just be me. I'm still getting used to anything out of my norm. I like the description of how she just sits and watches life go by without learning anything for herself. But not to worry because rest assured some guy will come along to happily tell her what to think.
