Life
threw a party for me
and I waited
for the guests to arrive
Anxiety came early
with her two ugly sisters
Nervousness and Doubt
the three of them kept me cornered
out in the kitchen for so long
I missed how the party began
luckily Experience came along
and gave me a dig-out
we went in to see
what was cooking
I went through all the guests
but couldn't see
the one I was looking for
Shyness kept me talking over entrees
everyone seems to think she's such a dear
but that guy she always hangs with
what's his name?
yeah,
Fear
he gives me the creeps
I talked with Sincerity for a while
over drinks
but he got boring
he thinks too much
he's too deep
Empathy came in later on
She seems to get along
with everyone
she'd been drinking
with Abandon and Humour
Paranoia was doing drugs
in the toilets
she couldn't relax
and left early I think
but that's only a rumour
Jealousy kept trying to whisper to me
Confidence couldn't get a look in
Wonder and Angst played guessing games
I found shelter
talking with Humility
in a quiet corner
She introduced me
to a great friend of hers - Peace
we chatted together for a while
then Love arrived -
and smiled.

Oh! How lovely.
This is very rich and so very kind. Full of good humour and compassion and wit, one of your best I think - you seem to be on a roll at the moment, a pleasure to read and comment upon.
Power to yer pen, matey - whatever is behind this flowering I hope it's fruitful for you as a person and as an artist - xRA -
hey W
well as a emotional metaphor you nailed this. seems like you got into a zone writing this and everything fell neatly into place. a gift from the poetry gods.

All poems are gifts.
You know, you're pretty much dead right, that's how it was. But then I always believe that poetry is more a matter of 'listening' to your muse than talking to it and that nearly all poems that ARE poems are a 'gift' such as you describe. That sounds pretty airy-fairy maybe but that's how I write. Thanks for the kind words Professor. >W<

Nobody likes a smart-ass!
Hi L. Intriguing, clever and intelligent are words I'm going to keep and show to my friends! No, wait a minute, then I wouldn't have any! Have to think about that one! But I DO thank you for the very flattering comment. >W<

Two thumbs up!
I really like the concept! It's not as easy as some people think to carry a theme that well. The way the personalities were described was a creative and yet realistic portrayl of very real emotions.. Rewarded 4

Legs
Thank you for the kind words here BB. Sometimes a poem just gets legs and walks. This one was up and running as soon as I had the idea of a party.
Haven't met you before so welcome to Sharepo. I'll try to return the favor asap. >W<
