Complacency

My complacency tears away my progress.
Layer by layer I see it all,
Falling and disappearing from existence.

Sine-like my life would look,
If represented on paper,
For all to see.

Ups and downs following each other,
In a never ending pursuit,
For some sort of equilibrium.

Oh the lovely manic ups,
How they push me forward,
Through anything of challenge.

To feel so in control and,
On top of the world,
So full of progress.

Yet it must end sometime,
It must fall away as the seratonin,
Drains away, leaving nothing.

No longer bouncing,
Only dragging along,
To and fro in the chaos.

What was only moments ago,
Pushing me forward is now,
Pulling me down within.

Slowing me to a halt,
I know I can overpower,
But feel no push to do so.
