The Sky Grows Dark Once More

The afternoon sun embraces me

as I gaze at the sky above.

The sweet aroma of flowers,

the sound of the birds,

and the breeze

carressing my face

drifts me into a peaceful state.

I watch as the blue oblivion above me

ever so gently

displays a pallette of colors

from soft pink to hazy blue,

from a serene orange

to a leisurely purple.

As the sunset nears it's end,

I stand up and turn for the door,

the pale-green grass like silk

under my feet.

I turn back to take a quick glance

at the slowly fading sunset,

and watch

as the sky grows dark once more.

    sensistetic! (not a real word)

Many writers use sensory crossings to create an intangible association with the reader. "ever so gently displays a palette of colors from soft pink to hazy blue." its a great treat when an author can do it correctly. If someone tells you something is "cold blue" you instantly get an image in your head of an individually defined but commonly associated shade of blue. It is a tool that is all to often neglected in the writing community in my opinion.

    hey there

I enjoyed the poem, you some very good imagery throughout the entire poem, very strong images. Which in turn puts out a great poem in this case, especially poems about nature. You definitely put the reader in this place, the only disagreement I had was about the "silk"y grass. LoL I've never felt silky grass, but that's just me. Could be where I live but idk, maybe a different adjective would work better, but that's just my opinion. Either way I liked the poem and enjoyed it thoroughly. Thanks for sharing and hope to hear from ya sometime soon.
