when you're in hole you should stop digging.
Personally I've been to Australia several times
never saw a boat or a plane
no doubt I'll be going there again
for digging holes is a specialty of mine
you see I have a big mouth
and a bad habit
of neglecting to engage my brain
before using it
I also have a temper
and I'm prone to losing it
together they amount to a pretty serious digger
the messes I make get bigger
while I'm still figuring out
what the hell did I say
I have a way of making people prickly
perfectly ordinary friends of mine
have turned into porcupines
that's just how it's always been
put me in quarantine
please
I have foot-in-mouth disease

As several have already commented-- we are all guilty of this. Just some of us a little more than others. Ahem.
The last two lines are really terrific-- a wonderful play on words.. Rewarded 1

Thanks Pie - hope it gave you a giggle as well. I feel a bit of a fraud accepting praise for 'foot-in-mouth disease' though - its far from original. But I'm certain I would have made it up if somebody else hadn't already ! Honest!

Well
Everyone has a problem like this at some point but your poem seems like they make a career out it. This poem is very amusing I like it.. Rewarded 1

I'M HELPING YOU DIG!
WH, now this is what i call 'candid' write. I like the humor in it, really. Foot-in-mouth disease sounds really clever ( and rings some truth in it. LOL!) Maybe you should tell me the best medication of this one, I seem to have it too. haha.
Anyway, a refreshing(!) read. And oh, you've been quarantined, and certified - safe to mingle again.

Greetings from Down Under
Alas , humorous or not, this is SO true of yours truly. See also 'My Face' (posted long ago) in connection with this author's self-destructive tendencies! lol. Thanks for the comment ( and the help! ) My Best >W<

Very very funny
I want to send( dedicate) this to some people I know but then I'd be guilty not of "putting my foot in it" but "putting the boot in".
Great. Rewarded 1

Alas , many a true word was spoken in jest!
It was meant to be funny of course and so glad it gave you a giggle. It was also a lame attempt at an apology to someone as yet unaccepted. Maybe I have to dig some more. Thanks for commenting Emma.
